Let me get this straight. Almost everyone here hates the jury. Has for years. You can see it here every year. People want only the public votes to count.

So people are not just upset bc Loreen won. They are upset because without the jury Käärijä would have won. He got so many votes from the public, so much more than Loreen, although she did good too in public votes.

People here always hated the jury. So yes, we are going to be upset when we can CLEARLY see that if it was only up to the public, Käärijä would have won by far.

So no, we are not just being sore losers. We just hate the jury. So this win feels like something the public didn't want, so it is not surprising that many are upset that Käärijä didn't win. The public wanted him to win. That is clear by looking at the votes.

The article says that the guidelines have been updated. Instead of asking if you’re a man that’s had sex with another man in the past 3 months it asks everyone regardless of gender if they’ve had anal sex with a new partner or if they’ve had anal sex with multiple partners in the past 3 months.

This both opens up blood donation to msm in exclusive relationships or who don’t have anal sex and more accurately identifies hiv risk from people who aren’t msm. This is exactly the sort of guidelines we’ve been fighting for for years. This is a major win for both gay rights and blood donation in the US. Now a bunch of people who couldn’t donate before can donate now.

this won't happen because the average age of tumblr users isn't 14 anymore but i really wish there was a fandom mass hysteria en par with the onceler thing where literally every person on this website becomes manically obsessed with one character from some random kids movie im talking fanart fic im talking the return of ask blogs ask-bango ask-dark-bango ask-swagngo ask-homestuck-bango and tumblr hq rushes to monetize on the avalanche of bango adjacent yet not copyrighted memes and references they release water bottles stickers t shirts sweatpants tea cozies stationery bathtubs a candle line but by the time the production process is complete on this cash cow bango is already cringe. no one is posting about him anymore he's a pariah he's in dnis he's been removed from everyone's kinlist so tumblr is just sitting on warehouses and warehouses of unsellable merch no one will touch it so they have no choice but to cram it all into one tall room scrooge mcduck style and that's when they cryogenically unfreeze david karp and they bring him to the room and he looks upon this landfill of bango merch and is forced to reckon with what's become of his legacy but he doesn't notice tumblr staff hq sneaking out the room behind him and they lock the door and they take the key and they melt it down and add to the batch being manufactured into a line of collector's spoons referencing the current popular meme (pygmy marmoset seinfeld)

faves posts that have 10k notes. to me investing at 156 notes btw

Thinking today about a post I saw some time ago about how wearing glasses shouldn't be considered a disability because it's "socially acceptable" and also about how I haven't been able to update my prescription for 2 years because I just cannot afford an optometrist visit or new frames.

I understand the impulse to say bad vision doesn't count because glasses are such a normal part of our society we don't even think of them as a disability tool anymore, bur the fact is if something happens to my glasses, I am Fucked. I can't drive. I can barely do everyday tasks. Working is going to be impossible. Even if I scrounge the money to get new frames, I have to wait WEEKS for them to arrive. And what happens to me in that time frame? Nothing good, I can tell you that. I literally need this tool to function on a daily basis, because my vision is bad enough to seriously disrupt my life without them.

If anything, glasses are a great example of what society could be if we took MORE disability seriously. If we had actual tools so readily available and normalized you saw them everywhere. But that doesn't make me not disabled, because the minute I lose access to that tool, I can't function.

Adding that the worse your vision is, the less likely you are to find affordable glasses.

Lots of people who need glasses but have a standard prescription can make do with the cheap ones you can get at pharmacies until they can make it to an optometrist.

Even when I buy from cheap online places, each of my custom lenses costs around $100. I think the cheapest pair I ever got in my life was around $250 because the frames were marked down to $35.

Even as I say this, I know that everything is so much more accessible for me than for people whose vision impairments are not able to be corrected by wearing glasses or contact lenses.

But it still sucks to have to pay hundreds of dollars for something so essential. Just like it sucks to have to pay for mobility devices.
